Congratulations to this summer’s Readers of the Week! Submit your name every time you visit to increase your odds of your name being drawn! Each Reader of the Week wins a t-shirt, water bottle, a book and goodie bag and is interviewed for an article in the Steamboat Pilot.

Week #1 Emma Parrott

Hayden Public Library’s first Reader of the Week for this year’s Summer Reading Program is six-and-a-half-year-old, Emma Marie Parrott.  She will be in first grade this year. Her parents are Katie and Brad, and she has a 4-year-old little sister named Izzy.

Her best friends are Blakeley, Savannah, and Macie.  The family has two dogs named Bean & Blue. 

Emma’s favorite colors are pink and purple, and her favorite food is mac ‘n cheese.  Her favorite movie is David, and her favorite TV show is Barbie.  She enjoys making puzzles, crafts and playing Legos.  She plays soccer, t-ball, and basketball—because her dad did that as a kid!  Her favorite book is Rapunzel. In school, she liked learning science and math.

The family will be traveling to Idaho in “Peaches,” their camper. Emma’s advice to other kids about reading is “Reading is good for you. It helps you learn!”  When she found out she was the Reader of the Week, she was excited, but sad for her little sister. Maybe Izzy will be our next “Reader.”

Week #2 Bradley Wade

Hayden Public Library’s second Reader of the Week for this year’s Summer Reading Program is eight-year-old, Bradley Wade.  He will be in third grade this year. His parents are Bailey and Tommy, and he has a 6-year-old little sister named Layla.

His friends are Dixon, Oliver, and Malakai. His pet is a Black Widow Spider named Cutie Snoopy Wade.  

Bradley’s favorite color is purple, and his favorite food is Crave chocolate brownie cereal.  His favorite movie is The Emoji Movie. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games and going to the swimming pool.  His favorite book is Sharks and Other Sea Creatures Dictionary by Clint Twist. In school, he actively enjoys gym class.

The family will be attending a lot of weddings this summer. Bradley’s advice to other kids about reading is “Reading is good, because it helps your brain to learn!”  When he found out he was the Reader of the Week, he said, “I felt like I was going to explode with happiness!”

Week #3 Izzy Parrott

Hayden Public Library’s third Reader of the Week for this year’s Summer Reading Program is four-year-old, Izzy Parrott.  She will be in preschool soon. Her parents are Katie and Brad, and she has a six-year-old sister named Emma, who won for Reader of the Week too!

Her friends are Juni and Charlie. Izzy has lived in Hayden her whole life, and would like to be teacher when she grows up. 

Izzy’s favorite color is green, and her favorite food is mac ‘n cheese.  Her favorite movie is K-pop Demon Hunters, and the TV show, Bluey.  She loves playing with her big sister, their toys and being outside. Izzy participates in dance and gymnastics.  Her favorite books are the Pete the Cat series by James Dean.

The family will be traveling to Idaho soon. Izzy’s advice to other kids about reading is “look at the pictures.” When she found out she was the Reader of the Week, she was “happy.”

Week #4 Benjamin Worrell

Hayden Public Library’s fourth Reader of the Week for this year’s Summer Reading Program is five-year-old, Benjamin “Venom” Worrell.  He will be in Kindergarten this year. His parents are Lene and Jason.

His friends are Nora and Liddy. He has two dogs named Piper & Violet, 2 cats named Covers & Charlie, five fish, and lots of snails.

Ben says his favorite color today is red, and his favorite foods are noodles and chocolate—just not together.  His favorite movie is Star Wars. In his free time, he likes to design things. His favorite books are the Dragon Masters series by Tracey West.  In school, he likes science and experiments.

The family will be visiting Mexico when the weather is cooler. Ben’s advice to other kids about reading is “It’s really fun to memorize so you can read stuff to your dad.”  When he found out he was the Reader of the Week, he said, “I was very excited.”
