Luke Woodley
Hayden Public Library’s first Reader of the Week for the annual Summer Reading Program is six-year-old Luke Woodley! Luke will be in 1st grade this coming year. His parents are Kyle and Mariah Woodley and he has a little brother named Landen who is two years old. He has lived in Hayden his whole life and has been a library patron that long too! Luke’s friends are Henry and Weston. He has a chocolate lab dog named Otis.
Luke’s favorite color is blue, his favorite food is pizza and his favorite show to watch is X-men. He enjoys wrestling and what he liked most about school this past year was learning! A few things Luke enjoys doing in his free time and for fun is coloring with markers and of course reading, his favorite book is the Green Packer book, one which his whole family enjoys!
When asked about plans he and his family may have for the summer, like a trip or special place they will visit, Luke said “Alaska!” Luke was also asked what advice or ideas he would share with other kids about reading, he replied, “Books are cool!” How did Luke feel when he found out about being Reader of the Week? Happy!
Reader of the Week #2 – Morgan Caughey

Hayden Public Library’s second Reader of the Week for the Summer Reading Program is nine-year-old Morgan Caughey. Morgan, who has lived in Hayden 8 years, will be in 4th grade this coming year. Her parents are Megan and Robert. She has a two sisters, Charlotte and Audrey. Morgan’s best friend is Maia. There are many animals in her family. Four dogs (Reba, Roxie, Scout, and Dusty); four cats (hers is Small World), chickens, ten lambs, eleven horses (her horse is Mini), fish, and two bunnies named Thumper and Miss Bunnie. There are many chores every day!
Morgan’s favorite color is blue; her favorite food is a steak from Texas Roadhouse, and her favorite show is “Cowgirls and Angels.” She enjoys playing basketball and track. In her free time, she will call Maia and play Roblox. Her favorite book is Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume. In school, she enjoys P.E. because she likes to run.
The family will be enjoying a trip to California and Lake Tahoe. Morgan’s advice to other kids when reading was “let someone read to you, and then you read back to them.” How did she feel when she found out she was the Reader of the Week? “Excited and surprised!”
Reader of the Week #3 – Nora Roderick

Hayden Public Library’s third Reader of the Week for this year’s Summer Reading Program is eleven-year-old Nora Roderick. She has lived in Hayden 5 years, will be in 6th grade this coming year. Her parents are Jennifer and Dean, and she has a two sisters, Alice and Mia and a brother named Caleb. Her friends are Nora and Addie. Her pets include 10 chickens. When she grows up, she would like to become a teacher.
Nora’s favorite colors are pink and yellow and her favorite food is veggie chili. Her favorite movie is “Wish.” She enjoys playing lacrosse, and hockey. She is also a ballet dancer. In her free time, she knits, crochets, bakes and practices ballet. Her favorite books are the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling. In school, she enjoys humanities and Spanish.
The family will be enjoying a month-long visit to Costa Rica. Nora’s advice to other kids about reading is “once you start a book, finish it.” How did she feel when she found out she was the Reader of the Week? “Surprised and happy!”
Reader of the Week #4 – Layla Wade

Hayden Public Library’s fourth Reader of the Week for this year’s Summer Reading Program is five-year-old Layla Wade. She has lived in Hayden for 2 and a half years, will be going to Kindergarten this coming year. Her parents are Bailey and Tommy, and she has one older brother named Bradley, that is 7 years old. Her friends are Reece, Cal, Emma, Gabriel and Maesi. When she grows up, she would like to become a Fire Fighter!
Layla’s favorite colors are blue and green and her favorite food is Chicken Nuggets. Her favorite movie is “Bluey.” She enjoys playing tennis and soccer. In her free time, she likes to ride her bike. Her favorite book is “Mr. Nibbles the Book Monster” by Emma Yarlett. In school, she liked the field trip to the park.
The family will be enjoying camping trips this summer, and spending time at Sand Wash. Layla’s advice to other kids about reading is “It’s fun! You can read in your mind!” How did she react when she found out she was the Reader of the Week? She said “I won what?” then smiled and said “I’m so happy!”

Hayden Public Library’s fifth Reader of the Week for the Summer Reading Program is Arlo Fox Van Tubbergen! He is seven years old and will be entering second grade in the Fall. His parents are Courtney and Justin and he has an older sister, Fenna. Arlo’s good friends are Collin and Ella, who he loves playing with at their ranch.
Arlo has lived in Hayden all his life. When he grows up, he would like to be a hockey player. He also likes playing soccer and lacrosse. His favorite food is steak, and his favorite color is blue. Arlo enjoys watching the television show “Grizzy and the Lemmings,” In his free time, he likes riding bikes with Aisha. Arlo’s favorite subject in school is Art where he loved painting a watercolor fox. This summer, the family is planning to visit the Giant Redwoods and Sequoias in California!
Arlo likes many books, but two favorites are Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White and Pax by Sara Pennypacker. When asked if he has advice to give others about reading, he said, “I would give advice to Collin about reading cool books like Garfield and other ones.” Arlo said he felt “excited” to be the Reader of the Week.

Fenna Van Tubbergen
Hayden Public Library’s seventh Reader of the Week is Fenna Van Tubbergen, age 7. She has lived in Hayden with her parents, Courtney and Justin, and her younger brother Arlo, for the last six years. Her best friends are Hazel, Addie, and Milo.
When Fenna grows up she wants to be an artist, just like her favorite artist Bob Ross. She loves to spend her free time playing with Polly Pockets, and playing tennis. Her favorite color is pink, and her favorite food is water melon. Her favorite TV show is Bluey, and her Favorite book series is the Boxcar Children, by Gertrude Chandler Warner. Her favorite subject in school is writing, and she will be in 2nd grade this year. Her summer plans this year are, to spend time with her Grandparents when they come to visit.
When asked if she had any advice for younger kids about reading she said “Read a lot more.” She also said that she was “so excited” when she found out that she was going to be the Reader of the Week.
Reader of the Week #8 – Sam Boyle
Hayden Library’s eighth Reader of the Week is Sam Boyle, age 7. He has lived in Hayden with his family for three years. His parents are Katie and Tim. His older brother is Nate, who lives in Rhinebeck, New York, and he has a younger sister Emma. They have a dog named Otis, and seven chickens, their names are: Peachy, Will, Jack, Striker, Raptor, Falcon, Emit and Yellow Chicken. His best friends are Dixson, Finn, Jacob and Morgan. They like to play outdoors and do magnets.
His favorite color is red. His favorite food is a hot dog with a bun. His favorite TV show is “Wild Kratts.” In his free time, he loves to read, do magnets, draw and make stuff. His favorite sport is wrestling, skiing, baseball, soccer and wants to try flag football. His favorite book is the “Wings of Fire” series by Tui T. Sutherland. His favorite subjects in school are science, writing and reading (math is not his favorite, to be honest).
This summer he went camping at Steamboat Lake and Disneyland in California. When asked if he has any advice for kids he said, “Try a book and don’t judge it by its cover, and to smaller kids, if you think you can read something, read it.”
When he found out he was the reader of the week he said, “It was fun; I felt nervous, things like that make me nervous.”
